CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution Now Available for Electronic Access Control at DoD Facilities
-- Seamlessly Integrates with Existing DoD Infrastructure for Rapid Validation of Common Access Card and FIPS 201 (PIV) Credentials --
Cambridge, Mass. – April 28, 2008 – Driven by Department of Defense (DoD) regulations, as well as Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) goals, CoreStreet, the leader in credential validation solutions, today announced that its CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution now provides rapid electronic authentication and validation of Common Access Cards (CAC) for securing physical access to Department of Defense (DoD) facilities worldwide.
“With its CAC and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) programs, the Department of Defense has been at the forefront in deploying state-of-the-art Identity and Access Management solutions within a government environment,” said Eric Longo, Vice President Federal, CoreStreet. “With recent enhancements to the DoD infrastructure, immediate electronic identity verification can now be extended to the points of entry for DoD facilities worldwide, and the CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution can now also be used in support of random anti-terrorist measures, such as roaming identity spot checks.”
The CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution encompasses software for handhelds and PCs, leveraged for both mobile and fixed authentication stations, and a management station to manage the link to the existing DoD infrastructure. The DoD Robust Certificate Validation Service (RCVS) can be leveraged directly for CAC validation-only requests, or Commands/Services/Agencies (C/S/A) can establish local attribute infrastructure similar to the capability used by the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA).
With the CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution, DoD facilities can now perform rapid electronic validation of identity and associated attributes (even in power out and communications out situations), automatic dynamic updates when a connection is available, and capture of activity information for auditing purposes. Extending beyond the DoD, the CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution also allows for the validation of any federal, state or local credentials issued from FIPS-201 compliant or interoperable infrastructures, and of legacy credentials such as drivers’ licenses.
Integration with Existing DoD infrastructure
CoreStreet provides the critical Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate validation technology behind the DoD’s Robust Certificate Validation Service (RCVS). The DoD implemented the CoreStreet Validation Authority as a complete solution for cost effective and massively scalable validation services for all 3.5 million service members and contractors. Applications that currently leverage this infrastructure include smart card logon, digitally signed email, access to secure web portals, and authentication within web services architectures. The CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution provides the ability to extend the infrastructure supporting these logical access control functions to also support facility/installation physical access control processes.
More recently, the PFPA implemented the CoreStreet IPL Publisher technology to provide the attribute (privilege) infrastructure for securing access control, through mobile authentication and validation, to leased facilities in the greater Washington D.C. area.
The CoreStreet PIVMAN Solution is available for immediate delivery and implementation, and can be procured through multiple contracting vehicles. The CoreStreet PIVMAN solution is the only solution for rapid, secure, electronic validation that appears on the FIPS 201 Approved Products List, the DHS Authorized Equipment List (AEL) and the Standardized Equipment List (SEL).
