CORESTREET EXECUTIVE TO ADDRESS SMART CREDENTIAL EXPERTS IN MILAN

Salvatore D’Agostino Moderates Panel Balancing Security and Privacy in E-Passports

Who: is a widely-recognized industry expert in the area of advanced credential systems, having worked closely with governments and industry associations around the world to further the acceptance of smart credentials. In his role, Mr. D'Agostino has spoken widely regarding the growing importance of building large-scale government programs that perform to the benefit of both government and citizen.

When: Wednesday, November 29, 2006

Where: ID World Electronic Passport Forum, Milan, Italy

What: Finding the balance between security and privacy has confounded many e-passport programs, oftentimes resulting in significant tradeoffs of one in favor of the other. Yet, as Mr. D'Agostino will propose, such compromises may not be necessary. E-passport and smart credential programs can be built to meet functional requirements, maintain security and eliminate privacy concerns without sacrifices. Mr. D'Agostino will point to lessons learned from US-based credential initiatives, where the implementation of strong public key infrastructures (PKI), and related applications, has enabled population-scale deployment without security or privacy issues.

At the ID World Show and Expo in Milan, Italy, Mr. D'Agostino will address worldwide identity experts about the need for a secure and reliable validation infrastructure. He will focus on such issues as:

  • Scale—Supporting millions and later billions of transactions;
  • Privacy—Ways to remove privacy from the equation;
  • Cost—Architecting systems that are globally available and cost effective.

Mr. D'Agostino has spoken on the topic of security, smart credentials and machine intelligence at such industry events as Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) America Annual Meeting, Transportation Research Board Annual Meetings and IEEE Homeland Security Conference . He has also been tapped as an industry expert by such outlets as NBC Nightly News and TechTV.
